Clinical School Social Worker

The hardest part of this pandemic was not being able to see my students. Every day I worried whether they were safe or in need of resources. A couple of weeks into the shelter-in-place order, laptops and tablets were distributed to the majority of our students and families which helped bridge the gap of communication. I finally had the opportunity to see their beautiful faces to provide tele-health services; however, many of my students did not have access to pencils, paper, or basic school supplies. I needed to figure a way to provide the virtual activities that did not require materials. Students still needed to learn how to cope with the mixed emotions from past traumas and current realities of social distance learning, which led me to create a website of virtual coping skills and online resources. Not only could Hidalgo students and their families access this virtual hub of resources, but anyone who comes across my website. I hope this website can bring you joy or comfort as we face a global pandemic and social injustices. Stay safe, stay well, and always be kind.
